Do they really want Obama dead?

As citizen consumers, we are limited in scope with regard to both the sources and types of political information available to us. In fact, certain demographic populations unbelievably receive the majority of their political information from political campaign advertisements and attack ads. While younger demographics get their “news” almost entirely from the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.

Yet, an astounding trend has been appearing lately with regard to the credibility of media. Liz Trotta, a paid Fox News contributor, recently joked about killing not only Osama, but also Obama too. Keith Olbermann already ripped Hilary a new one for mentioning the RFK assassination as a reason for staying in the race, but Liz Trotta took it to a whole new level. The humor she displays completely fails in the eyes of the public due to the real death threats that Obama has already been receiving.

What do you do with influential pundits that excessively run their mouths and cross bounds that shouldn’t be crossed? There is a growing petition that calls for the firing of Liz Trotta, while others think a minor fine would be appropriate.

What should the role of media be in politics: to entertain the ignorant through crude humor or to actually inform people of the thematic facts with the goal of producing informed citizens?

Frankly I've come to know Fox News as the "Daily Show" of News reporting. Anyone that actually takes them seriously needs to have their heads examined IMO.

Both idiots on set should have been fired where they sat .. on camera. This female is a silly, vicious, shallow piece of work and her interviewer is a dullard, a straight man.

Yeah, I wholeheartedy agree.. this source is crap. I'd believe The Wiggles over these people. Fox has no credibility, ABC is losing it, imo.

I think I see a pattern here and in general.......say what the hell you want, as long as you apologize for it in a day or two.

A split second comment isn't enough for an immediate firing unless this woman has a pattern of this behavior.

Me thinks you got so upset because she commented on Saint Obama, peace be upon him. If it were about Bush you probably would be laughing.

It's been working well for the Democrats.

Good comment apdst, it doesn't claim that Fox was right or wrong in their comments. How about once you actually comment on the Original comment and whether FOX news was right or wrong to say it.

It was a classless joke to cover a name slip up. But beyond that....

I don't know about firing, but I wonder if you were so committed to having someone fired when Bill Maher implied that Cheny should have been shot in Afghanistan? And I don't believe he ever apologized for that one.

Obviously that doesn't say she's a democrat or republican, but looking at her past I'd guess democrat.

Never heard about that.

And ... no alonzo... I would NOT be laughing if the cute joke had been on Bush. I would still demand she be fired. .. but whatever.

Guessing she's Democrat might work, but she trashed the living shit out of Clinton and laughed about killing Obama. hmmm... could be, but I dunno. Hard to believe a Democrat would trash both Preidential candidates... oh well..

So you never laughed about bush being assassinated by a pretzel?

Are you serious? Don't think I've ever heard it or don't remember if I did.

Was the pretzel passive or aggressive?

I'm not sure if I believe that any liberal didn't laugh at the thought of a pretzel assassination. Hell, some staunch bush supporters laughed at it.
