View Full Version : Back From Involuntary Exile

The real world decided a few months ago that it needed my immediate and total attention. Those issues now being resolved to my satisfaction and with the Cardinals having a night off, I decided to come back and re-introduce myself.

I am called ECW in honor of the most over-the-top entertainment company of the late 1990's. (The new ECW, unlike the old ECW, is a joke. Thanks, Vince.) For the most part, I am the most over-the-top Liberal here. I am interested in presidential politics, baseball, rock & roll but very little else.

Don't make the mistake of trying to categorize me or assume facts not in evidence when discussing issues since I pretty much say what I mean and I mean what I say. Alan Combes does not like my brand of Liberalism. Bring proof (citations from a reputable source) when making your assertions or consider them to be nothing more than opinions.

Thanks to Pookie, Lily, Elrathin, Buck, Kyi Yo and my other friends who hung with me over the past few months and to all the Neocons who have been running unrestrained since I left I just want to say one thing...

I'M BACK.

Hey, buddy!

Good to see your ferocity again!

Is it over 100 degrees in Austin yet?

Hey there!

I was in Austin - and you didn't even invite me to meet you. Hm. :shame:

You and yours could have met us for Mexican Martinis at Trudy's, and we wouldn't have even subjected you to Ron Paul propaganda! :peace:

I don't know about Austin but here in the Hill Country it's real close if you do not figure in the Heat Index. If you do, it hit 100 yesterday.

Thanks for the welcome back.

I'm in Austin, and you didn't call me either. :shame: I'd have taken you to the Alamo Drafthouse.

That's why I enjoy living in the DFW area - generally cooler temps than Austin and Houston (where I've also lived).

'course, Austin has it all over DFW in the other coolness factor. Keep Austin weird, enjoy SXSW and say hi to 6th St. for me.

I went to college in DFW a few centuries ago, and the hottest I've ever felt it was in Dallas. So I guess it's all in perception...But having lived in or near San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, El Paso and Austin, it's Austin hands down. But ECW's a San Antone guy, so cut him some slack.

Only a Texan pronounces San Antone correctly. Most of my life was spent in Houston, then a couple years in Austin - now I'm in Dallas, having just moved from Indy (really liked Indy, BTW - especially during the month of May). Austin is definitely awesome. I was there a few months ago for an Alice in Chains concert at Antone's (a whole 'nother story in itself); 1:00a we're standing outside the venue, when what randomness should occur but a flash-bicycle-mob rolling up Lavaca - literally hundreds of bike riders. It looked really cool.

Well, those of us who frequent San Antonio NEVER call it San Antone. It's always San An-ton-ee-oh. We leave that mispronounciation stuff for the Yankees, the auslanders, hillbilly country people and the Touristas. But thanks for thinking of me anyway.

Eh...it's one of those tomato/tomahto things, I s'pose - I've heard of plenty of Texans call it "San Antone" (i.e. George Strait).
