View Full Version : An Idea?

Since we can only rep people once for posts or PM them yelling good job, can we have a Pawz Up! award for especially brilliant posts?
Most of my fellow posters have come up with really great points and also, most of them have said things that make me roll on the floor laughing.
Mods, can we do that? I'll even make the little Pawz Up! logo we can copy.
What do y'all think?
Oh and before any one of you gets smart, I do have ideas sometimes. My brain cell does work, okay?
Geez.

This sounds like a good idea. Perhaps we could even have a "paws up" post list that could be boosted in profile for search engines so that new posters are more likely to see these really brilliant, well thought out posts upon initial arrival.

I don't believe there's anything in the current setup that would allow me to add this, and when we had the "digg" option previously it wasn't used much.
What I had mentioned to staff a while ago, and they thought it was a good idea, was to have a "DF Awards" or something like that, which would have people nominate the best post, best thread etc. and the most popular nominations would get voted on with the author receiving an award. Though I'd have to work on that a bit.

That's an idea. But this would be something we can do for each other and the award would be in the thread with the quoted post. You wouldn't have to set up anything.
I'm not trying to argue, sorry, I didn't make it very clear at first.
My first idea was the "Asswipe Award" but I figured that would have gone over like a fart in church.

DF awards sound great, not a bad idea at all.

So is this award thing actually in the works, or is this just a brainstorm sesh?

I'm sorry, we should have gotten back to all of you on this. It was decided that in our opinion, it would turn into a big partisan feeding frenzy and to avoid any further arguments, we thought it best not to do it.
We have the rep system, the friends, the groups and now the send message to poster. I've found myself on more than one occasions just using this, instead of PM, so that it's out in the open and anyone can read it.

Oh crap, Lily, I did not think about that. I'm sorry. Thanks for setting me straight.
I see now.

Paws Up? You cat people crack me up :dork:
I'll go for it IF it's a dog's paw...

What you have now, you can enable 'thanks'. There is no such thing as 'no thanks', or if there is you can turn it off.

What's that? I don't see anything. Then again, I am dense. Where can we do this?

I think she's referring to a setting pookie, but there is no option on the vbulletin we're using that I know of.

Yes, we should have have this. I make lots of funny I think.

It's there.

Okay, I'm dumb, I guess it's something only the admin and owners can see, right? Or are there different versions of vBulletin that might incorporate different features?

If it's there its not something admins have access to, and in discussions with susie the rep system is what it is. I know when I was modifying the rep system earlier I couldn't even do a one poster one rep type thing, I had to essentially set the amount of posts between reps for each person to a ridiculous number that no one would ever reach.

Yes, we should have have this. I make lots of funny I think.
Yes, you do. Lots of people in here make me laugh my ass off. Not at their opinions, but at their senses of humor.
For instance, after a phone call with a member, I got PM'ed and the person said, "Funny, you don't type with a southern accent." I was rolling. That's what I mean by humor. I see this kind of humor on the boards a lot.
And at one time I thought conservatives had no sense of humor. Then along comes Pres and Boogy. That was one theory that went south REAL fast!
I end up PMing folks I've already repped. But maybe a personal touch like a PM is good? I try to PM as many as I can, but I fall woefully behind.
How about the Pookie Pawz Up! reward I can post for those who force me to think?
And everyone else could have a "Good Job" or "Good Point" or "Good Post" thing? I'm a wizard with PSP, I could make them. I think the extra effort it would take to insert a graphic would show the poster he is appreciated.
For instance, I would give Mia Pawz Up! for her making us aware of pet food, and someone else could give her "Good Post."
Just ideas, here, I'm throwing out.
As for the Asswipe Award....well, no. NOT a good idea. Too many people would use that on ME! Yikes!

Pookie

It's separate from reps. I guess y'all might not have that as part of your upgrade package, but it seems unlikely given the features I do see here.
