Its comforting to know that all in the Republican party are not sheeple and willing to take a stand for conservative values.

We need opposition parties. Its what makes this country great.

WASHINGTON, May 12 (UPI) -- Maverick Republican Rep.Ron Paul is said to be working quietly on making the party's national convention less than smooth for presumptive nominee John McCain.

The Los Angeles Times reported on its political blog Monday that "an embarrassing public revolt" is in the works by the Texas congressman's camp and its allies, who don't see McCain as being conservative enough.

"They hope to demonstrate their disagreements with McCain vocally at the convention through platform fights and an attempt to get Paul a prominent speaking slot," the Times said.

The Times noted that even after Arizona senator had the nomination locked up, sizable numbers of Republicans were casting primary votes for Paul and conservatives Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney who had long ago dropped out of the race.

A lingering question is whether those voters will pitch in with McCain in November or continue to withhold support in protest and rally around Paul.

It appears a rumble of sorts will happen at the Republican Convention too. I can hear it now... "Lets get ready to RUMBLE"!!"

Stock up on your popcorn, looks like both conventions are going to get rowdy. :clapper:

We NEED dissent people!! For too long, too many Americans have quietly co-signed to the neocons. Fuckn Bill Kristol has called Ron Paul a nut, among other things. He's NOT. He simply opposes for one thing, the neocon agenda. Lieberman must be tweakin' as we speak.

I sure hope his voice is not silenced.

L.A. Times political blogger Andrew Malcolm, one of the most active Ron Paul-watchers in the EmmEssEmm, sees a quiet revolution (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/05/ronpaulgop.html) brewing on John McCain's libertarian flank:
[Q]uietly, largely under the radar of most people, the forces of Rep. Ron Paul (http://topics.latimes.com/politics/people/ron-paul) have been organizing across the country to stage an embarrassing public revolt against Sen. John McCain (http://topics.latimes.com/politics/people/john-mccain) when Republicans gather for their national convention in St. Paul at the beginning of September. [...]
The last three months Paul's forces [...] [have] been fighting a series of guerrilla battles with party establishment officials at county and state conventions from Washington and Missouri to Maine and Mississippi. Their goal: to take control of local committees, boost their delegate totals and influence platform debates. [...]
They hope to demonstrate their disagreements with McCain vocally at the convention through platform fights and an attempt to get Paul a prominent speaking slot. Paul, who's running unopposed in his home Texas district for an 11th House term, still has some $5 million in war funds and has instructed his followers that their struggle is not about a single election, but a longterm revolution for control of the Republican Party.
Whole thing here (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/05/ronpaulgop.html). McCain jokes here (http://www.startribune.com/politics/18747834.html) that he hopes his opponent come Novemeber is the good Dr. Congressman. Brian Doherty's "Scenes from the Ron Paul Revolution" here (http://reason.com/news/show/123905.html).

It might work, it might not. Either way it shows that SOMEBODY is at least willing to stand up against the bullshit of modern-day republicans.

If at least his voice can be heard. I hope he is allowed to speak. And this announcement by Bob Barr is going to hurt the GOP status quo too. McCain is not going to get off so easy. His campaign is not going to be a walk in the park.

I am still reviewing Bob Barr, but I think he is one of the LEAST politically attractive candidates the Libertarian Party is fielding for this election from what I have seen so far.

I also wouldn't hold my breath on Paul being able to be heard.......

He wasn't heard in 1988, much like Libertarians are rarely ever heard in the Republican/Democrat funded corporate media.....

How many campaign dollars have the Republicans and Democrats spent on corporate media? No, no bias there I am sure......

In Austin someone tried to tell us 'we have 100 hours to influence Ron Paul to get in front of the party, and implode it'.

Some times some of the Ron Paul supporters make me think they're actually getting in his way.

We were invited to his party, and said 'SURE, we'll be there! ;-)'

That and a $2.45 will get him a cup of coffee at Dunk'n.

Unfortunately, you have to actually get people to vote for you. You don't just get it by sounding like the most conservative guy on the ticket.

sounding like a conservative??? have you ever looked at paul's voting record? it's the most conservative (not to be confused with neo-con) record in congress.
