Lily asked why people think Obama is an elitist....
made me wonder what would have happened if James Foxworthy had been a blue blood....
You know you might be an elitist if...
1. You go bowling and can't score over 50....
2. You already know which fork to use first....
3. Your list of criteria for picking day care includes "college placement opportunity" instead of "on the way to work"....
4. You a) can't remember your housekeeper's name....b) you HAVE a housekeeper....
5. You wonder if trailer parks have valet service.....
6. You have a bag to carry your dog in...
7. ......

Well not being a bowler, knowing which fork to use, and having a daughter that has a bag to carry one of our dogs I guess I'm kind of elitist.
Of course, what I find really interesting is comparing elitists with the American Dream. Isn't it to be Rich? I'm not saying it's that way for everyone, but for many it is.
1.If you were rich you may not have time or the interest in bowling. I'm not rich and the sport means absolutely nothing to me, just like golf, NASCAR and soccer.
2. You would have been taught what to do in a formal dining situation, if you were rich OR CULTURED (BTW, PMP, it works on an outside-in philosophy. So the first course is served you use the utensils farthersest from you working your way in as other courses are served)
3. I would venture to guess that if everyone had a choice of a daycare that had College Placement vs. close to work, most parent would choose the former over the later to help there kids as much as they could. Sadly, only the rich have that choice.
4. Again, I'm guessing here, but I would assume that if you could afford it, MOST people would love to have someone wash the dishes and clean house. We simply cannot afford it.
5. If you were born Rich, would you know anything about Trailer Parks? I don't know anything about Country Clubs, does that make me the polar opposite of an elitist?
6. You have the bag to carry the 5 lbs. dog because it literally cannot keep up with you. We walk the dogs, both are small and do not shed (Bichon Frise and Maltese mix) because my wife's allergic to shedding animals, but they can barely keep up. So my little one's have a bag that they'll carry their dogs in because it's simple.
Again, I would remind you that if you or I were millionaires I believe we would do things differently. I know that if I made the money I would not bowl; know how to eat in a formal situation; would send my kids to the best possible schools I could afford; have a housemaid so niether my wife and I would have to do those mundane chores that take up so much time and each of us hate to do; probably would never come near a trailer park; and would transport my pets how ever I saw fit, as long as it was humane.
You want to paint Obama as an elitist when many of the things he does are things any of us would do if we had the dough.

Your first sentence of the thread, PMP, is "Lily asked why people think Obama is an elitist...." That opens the door to a political response to a political attack.
If you want it to be just "humor" then don't add the line in the begining.

I'm not witty enough to compile a 'you might be an elitist' list, but I know an apt one or not when I see it :thumbsup:
