Just like the NFL football thread, only this one's about major league baseball. Discuss whatever you want.
My team: Orioles, despite my attention to them going on and off.
And.....go!

My state's team is the Brewers, but they piss me off so often I end up rooting for the Cubs.
I actually enjoy watching the Cubs play more than Milwaukee.
With the exception of Boston and the NYY, I usually don't pay much attention to the rest of the League untill later in the season

My favorite team is the Indians but I am a native Floridian so I will always have the Marlins in my sight, but from the AL i like the Indians and in the NL I love the Marlins. Can't stand the Braves. I hate them.

Ahem...well, my Dad liked them. I'm carrying on the family tradition.

I'm impressed with how well John Smoltz's is throwing the ball.
I caught him last week and he struck out 8 or 9 in 6 innings and was hitting the mid 90's with his fastball. Pretty good for an old man, huh?

Damn rainy weather...
And now Smoltz is on the DL. Old fart. :lmao:
Actually there is talk of him going back to the bullpen. That would be a great move and would add a couple of years to his career IMO.

How did you cope in 97? That series still infuriates me. 4 strikes away!!!!

Red Sox fan my whole life. So far so good this year, though as of late we haven't been scoring many runs; but I see that as a temporary condition. Our pitching staff has the potential to be the best in baseball and I would be disappointed with anything other than an ALCS appearance [barring injuries, as always].

I hate the Red Sox but I'm loving Jacoby Ellsbury on my fantasy team! Kid is unbelievable. Plus I like his style of a player.

my job definitely has some sweet perks.. last year, i got box seats to a celtics game, and box seats to the AFC championship (both free).. this year, on the 19th, i landed some free tickets to the k-2 box suite (right by the green monster) for red sox vs. royals..
heh.. tis a shame i don't even like basketball, football, or baseball. (i'm a bruins season ticket holder though.)

Phillies look fantastic in the east given the MVP's early season injury woes and Howard's early slump.
I expect big things from my club this year, which traditionally gets better as the season progresses.

So how 'bout them Yankees and Orioles?
NortheastCynic

How about those Yankees indeed.
So much for the young pitchers stepping up this year.
The O's have been a bit of a surprise this year [so far]. Mediocre pitching and a mediocre lineup with mediocre defense and yet they're above 500. Go fig.

We've beaten the Red Sox twice and y'all are still the top in the division. Gah.

Yeah, I said, not a bad team at all. That said, we're borderline unbeatable at Fenway, and if Becket gets back the Becket of last year, forget about it. Just no more injuries please.

I know we just dropped two to Boston, but I'm still pretty happy with my Royals. They're 21-24, still in the race for the Pennant and NOT the worst team in Baseball! :ecstatic:
I realize it might not last, but HOPE springs eternal.

KC's been a surprising team too. The AL Central is so upside-down this year with no real dominant team, who knows?
-NC
How 'bout them Redbirds? Everyone had them finishing 4th or 5th in the Central and here they are a game out of first. Makeshift pitching staff with no real experience, rookies in the outfield, castoff infielders with only Pujols and Troy Glaus with the potential to become All Stars. LaRussa is a genius, I tell you, with pitching coach Dave Duncan coming in a close second.

So how 'bout them Dodgers ECW?
To be honest, Mic, if you are not in the NL Central, I don't know much about you. I know that Joe Torre has made those guys believe in themselves and they are over .500 but we beat them tonight, so what does that tell you? Wainwright is turning out to be a decent pitcher and he stifled the Bums tonight. We have Lohse going tomorrow night so I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Word. Any day that sees the Yankees in last place is a good one.
Sox finally won on the road, in other news.
