I subscribe to the RNC newsletter (along with a whole lot of other political newsletters.) Today I got an email inviting me to take a poll on "Critical Issues". The poll questions are just SOOO unbiased that they gave me the giggles. Just a few of them:

Do you feel the U.S. Tax code should be made simpler and fairer?
Should “pork-barrel” spending be completely eliminated?
Should America surrender in Iraq regardless of the consequences in the Middle East?
Do you believe we should set a public date for withdrawing from Iraq even if it undermines our troops in the field?
Should we appoint judges who will interpret the law instead of liberal activists who will make new laws from the bench?
Do you think we should work to give parents with children trapped in failing schools more choices to help their children have a better future?
Should the Victory 2008 program be focused on turning out the Republican vote and registering 2 million new Republican voters?

I think McCain just broke some sort of record with regards to push-polling...

Wow...without sounding like a total moron there is only one way you could answer these...and ya know what, republicans will answer as expected and then tout the results as proof that this is what everyone in America wants.:blah:

That, my friends, is what's known as push poll. Republicans are famous for pulling that kind of shit.

Exactly. This isn't a poll - this is a rather pathetic attempt to have poll results that McCain can point to as evidence that people support his positions. "Look, 99% of Americans think we shouldn't surrender in Iraq regardless of the consequences in the Middle East! OBVIOUSLY that means we should stay in Iraq forever!"

These sort of polls aren't terribly uncommon, but this is probably the most badly constructed poll of this nature I've ever seen. You're supposed to demonstrate at least a BIT of subtlety while shoving your position down the "poll taker's" throat...

To be fair, I've received almost the same from democratic representatives. Never quite as pushy as that one though.

I throw them all in the trash...
