As was reported by our EFE news agency, a yellow case, contained radioactive materials (cesium-137 and americium-241), was stolen from a vehicle, which was parked in the industrial area of the city of Mostoles. But Spanish Council for Nuclear Safety still keeps silence about the real owner of this radioactive case. And it is rumored that in reality lost case has been taken to this country from Great Britain through diplomatic channels, namely, in a diplomatic bag!
I hope, sooner or later we should find out the truth about British plans of its application. But I’m forced with a nasty fear that these radioactive materials could be stolen by some British helpers, for example, from the very Hizb-ut-Tahrir. It’s no secret at all that British special services and even diplomats are sort of “coaching” this and other terrorists organizations. Only God knows where to it can lead….

I goggled, "a yellow case, contained radioactive materials (cesium-137 and americium-241), was stolen from a vehicle', and found three articles reporting the theft of soil moisture density guages being stolen in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Arizona. They were all Troxler model 4640's.

It appears taht the theft of these gauges are a pretty common occurance, so I can't imagine why anyone would feel the need to steal one in Europe and smuggle it into the The United States. Also, it weighs 90 pounds, in the case, so it's not going to fit in a, "diplomatic pouch".

The guages contain 8 millicuries of Cesium and 40 millicuries of Americium. That doesn't sound like enough to make a very effective weapon, to me, but I don't know.

Thanks, Apdst, I was going to do the same thing but you saved me the trouble. No, that would not be enough to do anything.
Interesting how some things get so blown out of proportion. I wouldn't worry about it, Antonio. That's not even enough to contaminate a person.

Pookie

The summer after highschool I had a job inspecting roadways that were being built with one of these devices. I had to wear a radiation counter but it never showed significant accumulation. The security on these was not especially tight, so i don't think they pose a threat.

Just about to say that it's an asphalt density gauge. It wasn't stolen for the tiny bit of radioactive material in it, but for the resale value. If anyone wants radioactive material in quantity, all they have to do is go to Niger.

I think we should change gears and ask Antonio why he's pumping this disinformation.

Well, it IS information, but intergalactically "nuanced" information.

Antonio may never return to this forum.

I believe you're absolutely right. He's been exposed, so he's going to have to get with his handlers to find out what to do next.

Yep. I bet he wasn't ready to take us on!
No matter what side of the fence you're on, seems like an entire cross-section of Americans exposed this story for what it was.
