LITTLETON, N.H. -- A man known for witnessing the shooting of a Franconia police officer and then shooting and killing the shooter erupted in anger Tuesday when he was found guilty of threatening in an unrelated incident.
Gregory Floyd was found guilty of criminal threatening after a judge determined that he threatened to shoot and kill his neighbor in December. The conviction came after five hours of testimony, and Floyd swore at court officers and stormed out of the courtroom when he was convicted. He was ordered held and sent to jail pending sentencing.
Floyd became known last year after he shot and killed Liko Kenney, 24. Authorities ruled that the shooting was justified because Floyd was trying to protect Cpl. Bruce McKay, who had been shot and killed by Kenney.
In court Tuesday, the judge listened to Alma Jean Boisvert describe a standoff with Floyd on a narrow stretch of Hummingbird Lane in Easton in December. Boisvert said she asked Floyd to back up so she could pass. He refused, demanding that she back up.
The argument escalated until Floyd threatened her life, Boisvert said. In court, she related the threats she said he made.
"'Do you want me to pull a gun on you?'" Boisvert said. "'No, because you'd use it.' And he said, 'I wouldn't miss.' And I said, 'I have no doubt.'"
Boisvert said she was aware at the time of the incident that Floyd shot and killed Kenney. Floyd had been hailed by some as a hero for his actions, but others said they found his role disturbing.
Floyd has not yet been sentenced. Prosecutors recommended a 12-month sentence, with six months served and six suspended. Floyd's attorney said he intends to appeal the conviction and seek a jury trial.
