Let's be honest for once. OK?
Just like ANY country in the world America has big ambitions. And there is nothing wrong with it, of course.
However!
America is a young and inexperienced country, and at that time it's going the same path that other great countries went before. The problem here though is that America is not listening to others, it is not learning from mistakes of other empires.......
Countries like Britain, Italy, China, Russia, Iran, Germany, Japan and many others had been playing this game for thousands of years and they know from their experience what works and what doesn't. They know what steps to take and when....
But what about USA? Does America and her people have that knowledge?
I think not.
What it does have, of course, is huge superego which is displayed in the USA #1 bumper stickers, huge flags on every corner in Anytown USA, and We can kick their as.s attitude....
I don't think that superego is enough in time when there are almost no manufacturing jobs left in the country, and above all US has to borrow money from China to keep Iraq war running.
So the question is....
What would be the smart thing to do for the US government right now?

The best thing for America to do is obvious ! Get rid of it's problems !
The Corrupt parties that have gotten us in to this mess should not be trusted to "TRY" and
get us out of it!!!!
They have had decades to do so and have not !!!!
Vote in Narder (or Paul if he runs), and vote out all DEM&REP senators. That would be a start
in the right direction. Because we can not afford to "STAY THE COURSE" that the
REPS&DEMS have taken us !!!!!!!

I think I answered this already so I will answer it again since I posted my answer on another thread.
Term limit all the politicians out of Washington.
Then clean our economic house. Close the borders, no more immigration for 10-20 years. Recall our military and pull out of all military alliances. Severely limit our involvement in the UN. Kick the UN out of the US. It doesn't work anyway. Limit all foreign aid to democracies only.
Good start anyway.

Disband. I'm not an anarchist mind you, I still feel the state is needed. However, the Republic is dead. Time to bury the corps, let it RIP and start anew.

Don't really have the patience to disabuse you of all your rhetoric but we don't borrow money from China, they buy our debt, big difference. Mainly because if we 'borrowed' from China, we'd own them something, but since they are buying up our debt, they are saying 'we respect you enough, economically at any rate, that we want a piece of you.'
So really, if the next up and coming superpower is judging, currently, that its best bet economically resides in America, what is that saying about America's supposed 'decline?'

It's in the ChiComs best interest to see the US succeed.

They're giving us the rope to hang ourselves. Your explanation of them buying our debt is laughable.. debt = owe money. Owner of debt=debtor.

If tomorrow, the complex, multi-national industry of debt buyment and re-distribution was totally abandoned- the currently intricate system of using 'debt' and its various forms, and simplified itself back to merely 'he owes him money' and I don't doubt our current finacial crisis will look a lot like peanuts in comparison to the one we just created.
The most likely candidate at this stage would be the Chinese. They will be in the overtaking lane early this century.
The Russians also have a claim on inheriting the earth. Their oil and gas reserves will be vital this century; and gazprom is due to become the largest gas corporation on the planet.
The EU might do, but their population is dying, and they're plagued with political correctness, usury, decadence, elitist utopianism and mass immigration from hostile peoples, in very much the same manner as the US. They also lack sufficient nationalism to produce a combined military force.

Stop putting US troops in every single country in the world and stop spending money on things that don't involve us. That would be a start.

The Chinese wish to maintain the United States as a consumer client state - nothing more. The seeder post asks "What's next?" The answer is Chinese global hegemony. They will not interfere in internal affairs, because (a)they really don't care, and (b)we've shown them the eminent stupidity of nosing around in other people's muck, but when it comes to large-scale economic, trade, or foreign affairs decisions that affect Chinese interests, the final word will come straight from Beijing - as it somewhat already does.

Then don't vote liberal or Republican.

'liberal' unlike 'Republican' isn't a political party. :unreal:
However, I must agree. The Republicans start the wars and the Democrats fight them. Get them out of office and no more wars. In fact, wars of aggression are technically illegal under Constitutional Law (indirectly).
