I'm trying to get to all of you. If you haven't gotten a rep from me, let me know in PM. These are all positive, no worries.
Help me out here, ok? I need you all to be honest.
Purrs,
Pookie
I'm waiting for them to decide how this will work; I think they will be reset again, Pook, before I bother. I gave you one, though!

Yaaaaggghh they better not! I got yours, sweetie! Thank you! I gave you one too.
Purrs,
Pookie
I hope they are, because I gave out some rep I never would have if I'd known it was my one and only rep I could give that person.

Sulk.
Have you been drinking? (nothing wrong with that, I shall start myself shortly!)
Just wondering because I said I did mean yours ;)
Oh I see where part of the confusion is from - I said I wasn't going to waste time repping people because I think it will get re-set, and I hope it does because I gave out unworthy reps when I thought they were just for that post. One time only reps require one to be more discriminating, imo.
However, it was just too awful seeing my friends and good contributors with only one, lonely green box!

Where do we see our reps?

Hot damn! Got several others here. Check your reps, folks, I'm trying to give you back what you lost when we switched.
Purrs,
The Reppin' Pookster
Where in the user CP are they located specifically?

Just wondering because I said I did mean yours ;)Nah, I don't drink. I was just saying that when you said you gave me one before you said you weren't giving any I assumed it was not your intention to give me one, and I became very sad and all lonely-like feeling.
(and you'd BETTER not be taking any of that seriously)

Purrs,
PookieMine are in a coffee can under my desk, where I can take them out and look at them any time.

Now I'm going to cry because you DIDN'T cry when you thought your rep was unintended.

They are not one time only reps. You have to rep like 8 people and you can rep that first person again.
They need to put a persons rep amount up there though.

I thought that too, based on how other Vbulletin boards do it, but Zo stated we can only rep one time! They can change the settings.

The standard is 8 posts and you can re-rep. Then based on every 100th post your rep power goes up by one or everytime youg et 100 rep points your rep power goes up by one. They need to fix that so all of that can happen here.
Except they don't want to - at least so far what was decided was to make it one rep only like we had before. I don't care either way, I'm just clarifying!

Zo would you please do what I suggested in post 24? That seem's to be really successful on other sites I have been on, it makes it more fun.
Thanks!

And fix it please Zo!

What needs to be fixed? Whether or not reps are onetime, when you give a rep, you mean it. That carries a lot of weight to the person you're repping.
I have no problem with the system as it is. I'm just worried about making sure the people I repped got their rep back from me after losing them.

Please explain the current rep system, Alonzo.
The current rep system, assuming I set it the way I intended to, does not allow multiple reps. We used to have a post by post rep system before and it was abused as people would decide "I don't like that guy" and neg rep them over and over and over again, even for posts like "Welcome to the site!". It just became a way to attack people.

Yep! And it's not fair to folks to be neg-rep bombed. That is mean and unnecessary.

Pookie

I'm with you %100 on this. We discussed this even before the change. Too many people abuse it, the old rep system was also abused, but complaints could be dealt with as it was a one time only thing. Post by posts reps would bring in tons of complaints and I for one don't like messing with someone's rep.
I've been on forums that used the post by post and it's nothing but complaints about it.
The old rep system wasn't set up to require one to rep 8-10 other people before repping the same person again. That makes it really hard to neg-bomb someone. No harm in giving this version a chance.
If not, please reset since many of us repped what we thought was an individual post, not our one and only rep for that poster.

I think the reputation system should be sacked. The new one seems a bit fairer, but I've mistakenly neg-repped some people, and I don't get to pile all the neg reps I'd like to on some people--as I'm sure they'd like to on me! But the rep system just inflames people, mostly unnecessarily.

I agree with Buck here. If we sacked the affiliation for reasons of identifying (or misidentifying) people, the rep system can go for the same reason. If we keep it, then it needs to be like the one rep per person version we had before. That rep per post system is just an excuse to neg bomb people and if you want to do that, fine. Just do it somewhere else.
