View Full Version : How do you view yours and others reps?

So how do you do it?
You don't! You can only see your own. ('user cp', if you have any they will be on the main page) - I'll give you one right now so you can see it.

So we can do individual reps for each post?
PS the more rep you get, the more 'powerful' your reps are. If I had more power, my rep point would have given you another green square that can be seen on your posts - that's all people can see, how many green boxes you earned.
So we can do individual reps for each post?
Yes.

Dammit! You cannot see who sends you reps!

You can't see mine? You should - in user cp.
Look for a green box in there. Next to it should say 'good question' from Mia.

It says good question, but no nick is attached.
At the least, there should be a gray square - indicating a powerless rep.
Rep me, give me power, muahahahahahaha!
Oh crap - now I see what you're talking about. I have one but I can't tell who from. It just says 'thanks!'
Pookie signed hers. I guess I will sign mine until they fix that!

`It was from me, lol.
Alrighty, my many many reps (2) are duly accounted for thanks, lol :-)

I repped a few people to see if it worked. They prolly have to fix it some. Lots of sites disable there's. Love this rep system cuz you can rep individual posts that strike you as really good.

I agree, but the mods said no because then people would "gang up on" unpopular posters.
This system is a bit different than others with individual rep ability. You can't rep the same person again, for instance, until you rep 10 or so other people.
You can't hit someone post after post, you'd have to be REALLY dedicated to get someone a lot of negative.
I'm trying to rep all the positives I see, and avoid negative unless something really pisses me off.

Flips the person who gave me a negative rep the bird. Screw you!

Yeah, I sign all mine, I know how this works.

You both should have one from me. If not, I'll fix it.
The board has the ability to show who gave the reps. I don't like it if we can't.

I'm not sure how the reps will play out. Currently the system is a post by post rep one, but I changed all the settings so you can only rep each person once. It's the same set up as the old one, minus the visibility to other members part. I'll see if I can do anything about that.

I changed all those settings. No one has a more powerful rep than anyone unless, except for staff whose points are worth 2, just like the old system. You cannot gain a more powerful rep by posting, repping or being repped.

Nothing looks the same any more.
I am trying to figure out if I am really me!

And someone stole my zodiac sign ! I was born on August 2, but my birthdate shows December 31. I am not even a Leo any more !

Well then it needs to start over, because that wasn't explained. Now the only reps I can give to several people are kind-of worthless, because I thought I was repping an individual post. Also they can't see who it was from.

Yeah, i like individual rep per posts. This system is pretty worthless if it's made into a one time, one post deal.

Sorry for the misinformation, Ann! I'm familiar with vbullitin and assumed that the settings here would be as they are on other boards. (that's what I get for assuming!)

I don't mind the latter at all; in fact I liked the system that was going on the old board. It's just something that should have been made clear at the beginning, so we'd know to rep the same way we did then!

Staff is learning this as we go along as well, we didn't have warning to give. I'm seeing if it can revert back to the old one.
But, to prof's suggestion, we had a post by post rep system before and it was abused. One member in particular had someone follow them around and neg rep them for every single post they made.
That's easily avoided here. Set it so that a person has to rep 10 others before they can rep the same person again. Or 20, then a person would have to be a nut-job to take that kind of time to be able to neg. rep someone over and over.

I agree Mia. I really disliked the one rep thing. It really did not do anything and was more of a way for people to collect rep points for repping others.
