Hey, owners, new design sucks! And who are the owners, by the way?
Your PM box is 100% full. it says. It was never full, and now it is. :(

The new site has a 250 pm storage limit December. If you have more than 250 PMs and that total includes your sent PMs it will show full. Time to do some housecleaning.

Then they need to change the message, because in my PM window it says I am allowed 50 pm's.
It's counting all areas - sent, etc.

They just made the change-over! They will get to things like this. We will survive - this is a good move that gives lots more capability.

December, the owner is Sanjay, the webmaster is Susie, and the person in charge of day to day running of the forum itself is me. Generally you would report problems to me and, if I cannot address them, I'd contact susie.
I already contacted susie about the youtube videos this morning, she's planning on adding a plugin to allow them.

Regular members are now allowed 50, mods are now allowed 250. It's not ideal, though one thing you can do is download them all into an xml or notepad file. I had 2,500 pm's, instead of sorting through ones I wanted I just downloaded them and then deleted them all.

Yep. Links don't work, either. Whoever imported this is responsible and needs to fix this. I've been through a change JUST like this and it went without problems.
The worst that happened were all the members were banned temporarily while moving User Groups and all. It lasted 14 minutes.
I got 5 phone calls asking about being banned.
This is nuts. Actually, this changeover is a bit sloppy, to be honest.

Not sure what links aren't working, I did both of the links above. The first was done with the "...." tags minus the quotation marks and the other one was done just by typing in the url string.

Why do People Hate America?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why is there so much hatred of America?
Are we making enemies faster than we can deal with them?
Why is the coalition of the willing so...unwilling? (why so little support)
what should our response be to the growing trend of anti-Americanism?
Recently I visited one of the democratic candidates websites and noticed that among the many promises was a promise to restore Americas reputation and good standings within the international community. I heard a report that stated that our approval rating as a country is lower than George Bushes (that's low) approval rating. -and yea I know congresses is lower.
The canned responses are "Because America represents freedom and democracy, they're just jealous of our status as the worlds only true super power, they hate us because of our affluent lifestyle.
Certainly this is true of some nations and people but it can't be as simple as that can it? The hatred of America is not limited to poor countries or middle eastern Islamic nations. There's hatred for this great country world wide and even within it's own citizenry.
There is a belief shared by many who follow international politics that most Americans are to a large degree ignorant of their countries history/politics regarding wars, international policy etc...in other words most Americans just love America, they have little idea of what America has been involved in over that last 50-60 years.
Your thoughts and opinions appreciated.

Pookie......I think it's a good idea to post problems here so things can be fixed. You also have to remember Rome wasn't built in a day. Bugs need to be worked out.
So now my question.....where are the bold, underline, ect and the thingy to click on to put links in threads........notice the professional term of thingy and you'll understand my knowledge of computers, as Professor, Pookie, Anne and El, mentioned.
Edited to add........I'm tired of editing my post........it seems I've given lots of people computer advice. LOL

regarding the loss of the ability to click old links in posts. its an issue with the code that was used on MyBB forums. we've had this issue in the past when converting forums, there's too many variations on URL's to be able to run scripts to catch them all. some start with hhtp some start with www. and each URL is different, so the only certain way to correct it, is to go through each single post, click edit, and save, that will resave the URL's as active links. however the down side of this, is i dont have time to go through XX,000 posts to do this.
the change-over will have bugs, some will be fixable, some wont, but for the most part, we're doing the best we can, to maintain this forum, as smooth running as possible.
the change-over to vbulletin was a necessity, because the old forum was failing, and the database was corrupt and throwing out errors. so the change over was done, to save the forum from crashing and being lost.
it might take time to get this place to where everyones happy with it. but we're going to do our best :)
also, saying my work is sloppy, isnt very nice. i'd appreciate that feedback be kept civil in the future.

Susie, people don't like dramatic change is all. Me included, however, I know you guys are trying the best you can. I'm sure bugs will get fixed when you guys are able to figure out what needs to be done. I will say it was the shortest downtime I have seen for a change like this, normally when boards go from different systems they take days.
I do have one request, is there anyway to make the background a little darker (more grey), it seems real bright right now and washes out some things. If not that's cool, just wanted to suggest it.
I don't know about anyone else.......but I'm having fun learning how new things work, seeing changes made, and absolutely as happy as a pig in shit that I don't have to wait forever for the page to load before I post or send a PM.

Yep! The forum is better than it ever was!
Can we get the tab for 'today's posts' brought back?
There are some that fell off my 'new posts' but I haven't looked at them yet.
Tabbing on each forum is cumbersome when I want to just see what is new!

They also need to put up how many rep points a user has, a top 10 poster list and a top 10 rep list.

I didn't really mean sloppy, Susie, bad word. I'm sorry. Yeah, Rome wasn't built in a day. I think I got spoiled when I went through changing to vBulletin. The guy who did it was an old geezer-geek who knew everything there was to know about all this. He could do this stuff in his sleep.
After messing around with this, Susie, check this out:
1. There's a list of people you've repped. Geek didn't do that! Excellent.
2. Seems to be faster than the old forum. Excellent again.
3. Refreshes faster. Purrfect.
4. LOVE the stats at the bottom of the page. What a timesaver, and more informative.
5. Faster log-in time, too. Yay!
6. The Quick Reply is not only quick, but fast as hell. Great!
I could go on, of course. I knew switching to vBulletin would be cool.
It's just that the poor admins are going to wear their fingers out tweaking stuff for a while. Round up the aspirins!

thanks for your reply. i appreciate it. although i will add, that the wrong wording in a message can be very hurtful, and id imagine on a forum such as this, very conflicting in a debate.
from your pm, you mentioned you'd used vbulletin back in 2006, well things have changed alot since then, so i can understand why your friend will have had a straightforward import back then. they're continually upgrading and improving the software, so it does get more complex over the years.
im sure everyone will settle into the new forum very quickly, it has alot of great features.
