Hello all! I'm "Firefox", formerly from the "Patriot Debate" forum that some of you may be familiar with. Long story short, I moved over here to partake in the multi-sided, rational debate that PD used to be about before it degenerated into bickering and personal attacks.
That said...
I'm libertarian, as noted in the title. Judging by the posts here, at least a few of you are as well, and I hope the rest can come to appreciate the philosophy as well. After all, at the core, what we are all about is supporting creative, voluntary solutions that don't rely on the violent and coersive tendencies of government force. On the personal side, I'm a student activist in WA, USA, and am a member of such organizations as Rotaract and the Free State Project (http://www.freestateproject.org/). I also work for a very popular public policy/contact-your-reps style web site that many of you may be familiar with.
Long story short, it's good to be here!

Thanks she's pretty cool, I must say! ;) Also thanks to you, if you're the person who fixed my account so I could actually post.

Welcome, nice to see you Firefox. I posted on PD for a while and came here for about the same reason and was invited by the same person. Don't know if I remember reading that much from you though.
Lily you rock, thanks for inviting so many interesting people here, the more the better.
Yo, Firefox. We meet again. Welcome.
Glad to see everything got fixed and your starting to post, Firefox! Looking forward to debating you again! I think you'll fit right in.

Hi, ECW. Did you post with a different name on PD? I just kept the same one since I knew at least a few people would probably remember me here.

welcome.
I like the browser of your namesake myself, although right at this moment I am being tyrannically forced to use IE. (in other words, I'm at work)
I also gather that you are a Linux user. Which distro?

I'm using Ubuntu Dapper Drake right now. I also have PC-BSD (based on freebsd) on here as well. I like PCBSD, but the only downside is that it doesn't seem to support my Lexmark Printer.

Ubuntu by all accounts is an excellent choice. I like Suse myself.
I have messed around with freebsd on virtual pc. I was surprised that it was so easy to install. I'm not familiar with PCBSD. I assume by its name it is more usable as a workstation than BSD.
I have been following the last 6 months the ReactOS project which seeks to create an open source XP/NT compatible OS. On the one hand, I think that would be great in helping move people away from windows, on the other hand, when all is said and done you're cloning a windows system and inheriting all the problems associated with it.
Anyway, just thought I would share that.

It seems there's some overlap between most political philosophies. If we were able to exploit that, we might get free of the dreaded two-party system...

Works for me! That and IRV. Kill the campaign finance "reform" laws that favor incumbents as well.

Sure. The only place we're in disagreement then is over browsers :)

I'm using Opera right now actually. On Ubuntu, there's this weird Firefox bug where I can't use the SSL proxy that I use for forum posts anymore for some reason. I use it most of the time, but I use Opera for forum stuff.

Chances are, the Lexmark is either PCL-5 or Postscript, so you can use a generic driver. FreeBSD is one of the nicest OS's I've ever used. Still, Windows XP is no slouch either.

Welcome Firefox. I am curious, what is this "public policy/contact-your-reps style web site?"
