Qaida No. 2 to Answer Web Questions Soon
CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - Al-Qaida No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahri will soon answer the hundreds of questions submitted by journalists, militants and others about the terrorist network's future, its media wing announced Wednesday.
A banner bearing the logo of the Al-Qaida's media arm, al-Sahab, appeared on Web sites linked to the organization that have carried its messages in the past.
"Soon the surprise," read the flashing banner, which showed a picture of the Egyptian-born militant dressed in white wearing a turban. "Soon by the grace of God, the open interview with Sheik Ayman Zawahri, first episode."
Al-Sahab announced in December that al-Zawahri would take questions from the public posted on Islamic militant Web sites and would respond "as soon as possible."
More than 900 entries—many with multiple questions—were posted on the main Islamist Web site until the cutoff date of Jan. 16. After the deadline, the questions disappeared from that site.
Self-proclaimed al-Qaida supporters appeared to be as much in the dark about the terror network's operations and intentions as Western analysts and intelligence agencies are.
The questioners appeared uncertain whether al-Qaida's central leadership directly controls the multiple, small militant groups around the Mideast that work in its name, or whether those groups operate on their own.
Some asked if al-Qaida have a long-term strategy, while others wanted advice about conducting holy war.
Let's have some fun with this. What would you ask this murdering bastard, if you had the chance?
"What's you favorite type of IED, car or back-pack?"
"Who's your favorite American Presidential candidate?"
"What's your timeline for withdrawal?"
"When do you inticipate recieving your first WMD device?"
"Follow-up: who would be your first target?"

This is so lame. Get Zawahri in front of a panel of recognised Islamic scholars and watch him squirm as he tries to justify Al Qaeda's actions. When confronted with the truth, they always turn away from their violent ways.

Indeed. The best weapon against Al Qaeda is The Qur'aan.

Actually, it's wire taps and missiles, but I'm sure that the koran comes in a close 30th.

Egad, I'm agreeing with you here!
When you disagree with ANY religious fanatic you are automatically an "infidel" or "Atheist" or some other kind of heathen, and then the ears just kind of close and then they try to take away your holy book because you obviously don't understand it.
You ain't gonna convince them they are wrong about anything. You just don't "understand" is all.

Wrong. You notice that Al Qaeda, at least in the media directed at the west, quotes the Qur'aan (erroneously) to seemingly support their position and legitimise their terrorism. Fact is that if you sit them down with a knowledgeable scholoar of Islam, their argument can be picked apart leaving them with zero justification to continue down their destructive path.
Surely convincing them they are wrong with words, without firing a single shot is a better (and several trillion $ cheaper) option? Your option kills millions of innocent people and lays waste to entire countries.

Why is it I don't see too many high-ranking Muslim clerics publicly saying these thugs are NOT acting under the auspices of Islam? Or whole groups of "mainstream" Muslims shouting back at these killers?
It's the same reason there are so many variations of Protestantism in the US. Once a church says anything you don't like, or sets a rule you don't feel like abiding by, you just start another church, with rules you DO like.

Wrong guy. I don't believe in any of that voodoo bullshit. I saw a show the other night where a christian was explaining to a bunch of school children that Jesus chilled with dinosaurs. :ecstatic:

I'm not saying send them to me. They should be brought before RECOGNISED scholars of Islam. Once the truth is given to them, they cannot deny it if they believe in the message.

Not hearing about it? That's because 1) They are not speaking to you. Their audience is Muslims in Islamic countries, not cowboys in Texas (No I'm not saying you are a cowboy from Texas :p) and 2) There are no western newspapers reporting it.

I think that they are all cowering in non-muslim nations like France hoping that they don't get their heads cut off for having a beer.

Agreeing with the man. Religious radicals are illogical fools. Moderates you may convince The Base can only be stopped with MOABs and Tomahawks. To bad we got distracted with the secular state of Iraq.

You may be able to take away their justification, but you will never take away their hatred. They will just find another obscure part to latch on to.

So, if it's that easy, why haven't the Islamic scholars done that an stopped the insanity? They had 50 yeears to do it, and haven't.
What's the hold-up? Do SOMETHING already!

Who would you vote for in the 2008 elections? Because you see, AQ, this US election is one of those 'wide-open' ones- you just can't throw your vote around like it doesn't matter, or even worse, not vote at all. So, I want you to look at the canidates... Really study them.... Honestly. Look at all their attributes, their speeches, their stances on everything from abortion, to gay marriage, to illegal immigration... Then pick the Democrat that really speaks to you.
