Hi everyone. My name is Robert and I'm posting from near Indianapolis Indiana. I have been looking for a place to discuss political issues in an effort to increase my awareness of other viewpoints. I always try to look at both sides of every issue and consider myself moderate on most issues. Just a heads up on some of my viewpoints;

I think abortion is an atrocity but feel that the government is unable to prevent it and that laws against it will cause more harm than good.

I never agreed with the Iraqi war and the reasons for sending troops there but even so I still signed up with the National Guard right after we attacked to help defend my country(was later discharged for medical reasons). I always felt we needed to concentrate on the first objective before adding more. I don't believe we should pull out of Iraq now because it's too late and feel more problems would be caused than solved by pulling our troops out now.

I believe there should be some form of overhaul of the health care system to make sure that all American's are able to get the medical help they need without having to worry about filing bankruptcy, loosing their home, or facing other financial disasters when something bad happens.

I believe our government needs to stop spending more money than it brings in! It's simple, if you can't afford it don't spend it or find a way to get more money.

I believe we need to secure our borders and make sure that immigrants coming in are doing their fair share as far as paying taxes, not just abusing the system. Personally I would like to see all immigrants allowed to become citizens if they volunteer for armed services for four years. Nothing ticks me off more than someone who refuses to learn the language or culture of the country. If the country you are coming from is so great then go back! Don't fly your Mexican flag in my back yard unless there is an American flag right above it. If you can't respect that then why the hell are you here in the first place?

I believe the death penalty should be abolished, not because it's cruel but because it gives them too easy of a way out. Make the criminals suffer through the rest of their life in a small cell.

I believe all those whining about Gay marriage should learn to separate their religion from their government and SHUT UP. My wife and I have been married for over 8 years and I know homosexuals who have been together longer, why should we be the only ones who get the tax benefits?

Well, that's all I'm going to write for now. I'm sure I'll be called a stinking liberal by some and a stinking conservative by others, I'll just stay to what I believe is right and try to learn from your point of view. I look forward to getting to intelligently debate with some of you soon.
