COUSHATTA, Louisiana (AP) -- A Louisiana school district suspended a white bus driver while it investigates complaints that she ordered nine black children to sit at the back of the bus.
No previous complaints have been lodged against the driver, who has worked several years for the Red River Parish school district, school Superintendent Kay Easley said Thursday. She refused to reveal the driver's name.
"I'm trying to get all this straight, and settled, so we can all move on," Easley said.
Two mothers, both black, sparked the investigation with a complaint on Monday that their children and the other black children had been ordered to sit in two rows of seats in the rear of the bus.
"In all these years, I've never had a problem like this," said Janice Williams, whose four children ride public school buses.
One of her children, Jarvonica Williams, 16, said the bus driver allowed many white students to have seats all to themselves while some blacks were forced to stand or sit in others' laps.
Iva Richmond, whose 14- and 15-year-old children were on the bus, said Thursday that they previously had a black bus driver, but their bus assignment changed this year. When school started this month, the white driver told them she had assigned them seats, with the black children at the back of the bus.
Richmond said she complained to a local principal, who told the driver that if any children were assigned to seats, all would have to be.
Early last week, the driver assigned black students to two seats in the back of the bus, Richmond said.
"All nine children were assigned to two seats in the back of the bus and the older ones had to hold the smaller ones in their laps," she said.
The women said their complaints to parish school officials were not immediately addressed.
Easley said she wanted to settle the matter. She said the driver had been suspended without pay, and she would announce the results of the district's investigation at a school board meeting on September 5.
NAACP District Vice President James Panell told The Times of Shreveport, Louisiana, that he would give federal attorneys details of the situation this week.
Coushatta is a small farming town in northern Louisiana. The school district has about 1,600 students, Easley said.

Yes, it's unfortunate that zo scours the internet for any individual who acts in a racist way... keeps alive the "white people are racist" lie.
If he continues, I'll start making posts every time I see a story about a black man raping a white woman, or committing some other crime against whites.

So, anthony, is the bus driver racist or not?

Who cares? The bus driver is an idiot. If you'd like to trade threads on race based crimes, I can find much more horrific examples than some minimum wage bus driver acting like an ass...

My neighbors are black and they have four little kids, and they're all annoying as fuck.
You have to dig deeper into the story. The first day the little kids rode the bus, were they irritating the bus driver?

Of course, that is a possibility. If you've ever ridden public transportation, you know that a small group of black people can turn the bus ride into a literal fight for survival. Just a fact.

Everytime I've had a problem on public transportation it's been due to some drunk white guy.
Someone comes in and on the first day assigns 100% of black students seats in the back, without assigning the rest of them seats. And then when reprimanded, assigns them all seats but still keep the blacks in back and puts them into 2 seats. If they were problematic, having them stand isn't going to help.
Your refusal to state the obvious is telling.

That's odd.....my neighbor is white and they have three little kids, and they're all annoying as fuck.

That is a good question. I haven't read any other account but this one. Guess we'll find out.

I hate it when I do that, but I was just comparing them to the other kids in my neighborhood. So please allow me to rephrase my earlier statement.
Kids around age 9 (as kids around any age) can be annoying as fuck.

zo is on his usual hunt to find all evil in white christians, and all good in any one else. to paraphrase Emerson, it makes him false not in some incidents, but all incidents.

Fair enough! ;)
Well.....I did a little searching and it seems that there is either a problem with a) bus drivers in Coushatta,Â*Â*b) kids are out of control, or c)parents like to make mountains out of mole hills.......I'm not sure whcih one.

Another Red River Parish mother complains about a bus driver

COUSHATTA -- Iva Richmond and Janice Williams are not the only parents with
complaints about Red River Parish school bus drivers.
Danielle Lindsey of Coushatta filed a complaint with the Red River sheriff's
office Friday alleging that bus driver Mineola Richmond slapped her
7-year-old son in the hand, causing him to drop a toy he was playing with.
Lindsey's son is white; Mineola Richmond is black.

I still don't see any racism there.
Maybe option B?
Nor do I TJ.......which leads me to think that the answer might just be all of the above.
While I don't think a bus driver has the right to hit a child, it then begs the question of what kind of toy the child had and what was he doing with it.........but they seem to think it was more important to say in this instance, the child was white and the bus driver was black.
But then again, I think that both sets of parents are making a mountain out of a mole hill. So much so, that it has hit the papers.

What have I ever said against whites or christians in general? I've never made broad generalizations denouncing a race or religion, and I hold no such opinions. You, on the other hand, continously dodge any question asking you to state whether you disapprove of racist behavior, and whether you support things like the civil rights act. Considering your generalizations about blacks, and your insistance that they're a subspecies of human, these questions are valid. I'm not making up baseless accusations, as you do in most of my posts you respond to, I'm simply asking you questions about your beliefs that you refuse to respond to. I'm not saying "you think X" or "you are X", as you do to me, I'm asking you questions about your statements. I simply want to know your opinion on an issue.
In this thread, for example, your response is " If you've ever ridden public transportation, you know that a small group of black people can turn the bus ride into a literal fight for survival. Just a fact."
Lily, for example, doubts the story because children are problems. I may find it unrealistic that if 100% of the people treated this way were black, and all the black kids were treated this way, that it's just a coincidence. Especially when you consider that the bus driver would want problematic kids standing, which was the last thing the bus drivers I grew up with wanted the problem kids to be doing. But, in contrast to lilly, your response is black people are problems.

To sum up:
The bus driver unfairly treated the kids, assuming they would be trouble and keeping them away from him. He was too judgemental? Right?
From re-reading this, I think that the parents turned it into a racist issue.

Your posts speak for themselves.Â*Â*You consistently highlight any crime, however trivial, committed by "whites" against "blacks" "arabs" or any other of your pet groups, and ignore far more violent attacks by those groups against whites.

The vast majority of crimes by whites and blacks are against members of their own race. Now if you want to argue that racially motivated attacks against whites are more common percentage wise than hate crimes againsts arabs, blacks etc. then give some evidence.
But, answer this then. If the kids weren't causing problems, was this action acceptable as a precaution?

Of course they did...now they can get a lawyer (if they haven't already) and sue the bus company and driver for a chunk of change.
Kids on buses are unruly. Everyone knows this. imho..they should videotape every school bus...have strict rules...and arrest any kids that behave badly. No talking, eating, drinking, or standing should be allowed.

Thats a little extreme, I agree with you on all of those apart from talking, thats just ridiculous, how can that possibly do any good?
All UK school buses have cameras installed but noone ever uses them.. although when they have been turned on they prove useful.. in my area a lone four people were convicted for Class A possession, and the evidence was them toking on the back of a double decker.. recorded by the camera installed.
Wolfe:
Well, I guess you cant really comment on those events.. unless you heard exactly how much noise they were making...
But that guy is out of order.... stabbing them for laughing and joking, thats what teen girls do...
