My name is Mattias Engstrom.

In the political scheme of things, I consider myself unbound,
perhaps leaning towards a social democrat view on things, but
foremost a humanist. I'm against conformism and authoritarian
systems. I believe that free speech is not enough to warrant
freedom for the individual. Original thinking and expression is
crucial to achieve true freedom.

Looking forward to interesting discussions.

You used the words Socialist Liberal in the same sentence that equals Communist.

Actually, he never used the term Socialist Liberal. He said social democrat.

You should get your facts straight before barking.
"Social Democrat" should be interpreted in the same word. Look it up, oh wait.
I have done it for you ;)

nevadamedic, you shouldn't pay so much attention to words.

Here's a list of social democratic (not communist) values that I agree (mostly) with, taken from the wikipedia page I posted:

* A mixed economy consisting mainly of private enterprise, but with government owned or subsidized programs of education, healthcare, child care and related services for all citizens.
* Government bodies that regulate private enterprise in the interests of workers, consumers and fair competition.
* Advocacy of fair trade over free trade.
* An extensive system of social security (not to the extent advocated by democratic socialists or other socialist groups), with the stated goal of counteracting the effects of poverty and insuring the citizens against loss of income following illness, unemployment or retirement.
* Moderate to high levels of taxation (through a value-added and/or progressive taxation system) to fund government expenditure.
* Environmental protection laws
* Support for immigration and multiculturalism.
* A secular and progressive social policy
* A foreign policy supporting the promotion of democracy, the protection of human rights and where possible, effective multilateralism.
* As well as human rights, social rights, civil rights and civil liberties.

I agree with all of that, Mattias. You state it very clearly and forthrightly. Not that the other guy is gonna like it, though--he thinks ALL that stuff is communism.:sadly:

It is, everything Democrat's stand for is ethically and morally and socially wrong. You want to stick your hands in the other guys pocket for your well being and I am tired of that sh1t. You want to wave your peace signs and hug your trees rather then defend our way of life and I am tired of that sh1t. You attack our military men and women and veterans every chance you get and I am tired of that sh1t. You attack one of the greatest Presidents of all time and I am tired of that sh1t. You try to convince the world that Muslim's are innocent victims and I am tired of that sh1t since they are the cause of the worlds problems. You want to expand the Government and I am tired of that sh1t. You are trying to con the world on this Global Warming Myth so one of your leaders can get movie awards and I am tired of that sh1t. You spout off your hate of everything not Liberal and I hate that sh1t. You attack and blow up recruiting centers and block the business conducted at these places and I hate that sh1t because those men and women are fighting for your right to be a pompus ass. You Democrat's constantly bend over and screw the citizens of America with out a rubber or lube and I hate that sh1t. You force your murdering of innocent babies down the peoples throat and I hate that sh1t. You force your buttpiracy supporting lifestyles down our childrens throat and I hate that sh1t. You created the ACLU and I definatly hate that sh1t. You guys have had John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Bobby Kennedy and Edward Kennedy some of the biggest creeps, adulterers and criminals this country has ever seen and the first three were the worst Presidents our country has ever seen.

I can keep going if you want.

First. How old are you? What you just wrote does not contain anything remotly reminiscent of a unique opinion based on any real argument?
Secondly, I'm not going to 'debate' with you in this way.
This was an introductory thread in what I hoped was a serious democracy forum. You are just plain silly.

Ignore him, Mattias. If he bothers you enough, do what most people here do and just place him on ignore.

nevamedic this guy isn't that bad compared to some other clown from scotland who proclaims Fidel Castro his hero believe me this guy isn't as dumb and naive as that guy is.

This guy looks like his views can be changed with a few check-ups.

Maten...Is your location in Northern Europe?

Or are you a US resident?

Is English your first language?

Welcome to Democracy Forums. Unfortunately, we always have a few punks who skirt the decorum this place aims for.

I hope they are soon "Departed", but in the meantime, I apologize on behalf of the reasonable members of this forum.

Welcome, Mattias.

I'm new here as well. It's an interesting forum, so take some time to get to know the membership (I have the good fortune to have already known many of them).

Don't be too put off by some members who have little self-control. It's something in the water, I'm sure.

Northern Europe, Sweden to be exact. It's interesting to debate in a foreign language.

How did I know?

Anyway, you seem to be doing very well with your second language.

I know that I would take a very long time to learn the Swedish language.
