This went down in defeat, thank goodness! What the hell are they doing?
Title: AN ACT TO PROHIBIT CERTAIN FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS FROM SERVING FOOD TO ANY PERSON WHO IS OBESE, BASED ON CRITERIA PRESCRIBED BY THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH; TO DIRECT THE DEPARTMENT TO PREPARE WRITTEN MATERIALS THAT DESCRIBE AND EXPLAIN THE CRITERIA FOR DETERMINING WHETHER A PERSON IS OBESE AND TO PROVIDE THOSE MATERIALS TO THE FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS; TO DIRECT THE DEPARTMENT TO MONITOR THE FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS FOR COMPLIANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

Pay attention. We already had a thread about this, a month or more ago.

I thought that one was about labeling fast food so people have to face what they are eating?

There was one about that too, but this one is from the MS legislature. Actually, I don't think it's as bad as one requiring teaching creationism in the schools. But this kind of legislation won't go anywhere: all it'll do is give the libertarians something to bloviate about. Watch and see.

Bloviate?
A bill that requires a restaurant to tell people, "you're too fat to eat here!" isn't worthy of comment?

Yeah, bloviate. It's a bill that will NEVER pass, and all the righteous indignation in the world won't have one bit of effect on its fate. So I think it's just something to have fun getting outraged about, nothing more.

The fact that this bill could even make it to the floor to be considered, aptly demonstrates the dangers that lie within the nanny staters.

Wow, they must be bored down there. Imagine wasting time on something that ridiculous when surely to God there are other issues that are more pressing and important?
Amazing.

I just hope my MASS State legislators don't catch wind of this. There's no competition here, so they do whatever the hell they want.
We've passed laws thru intitiative ballots, and by law, the legislation is supposed to enact it. Yet, they just thumb their nose at us and say "what'are'ya go'n to do about it?".
A few years ago, we passed the Death Penalty (75% approval) here by this proccess, and the State said "go screw". We also voted drop the income tax from 5.9 to 5%, but again they said "up-yours".
So yes, I'm concerned when I see some junk like this, because you can never say never when it comes to Liberal arogance.

You don't expect any legislature there or anywhere else to do anything actually worthwhile do you. Why break a losing streak?

"Bloviate" is a verb. The dictionary is your friend. Use it sometime.
