Hey, G. Adams here, yet another refugee from the 'other' board. There's still a little life left in it, but why settle for scraps?

I'm an Objectivist with no affilliations since I broke with the Lib Dems a few years ago. Before that, I was a left-wing anarchist, and before that a Communist. Surprising how much you learn in 6-7 years.

Oh, and I'm English, and not really a fan of my name sake (Gerry, not Gomez..) but I took it up when I was 16 and it's stuck with me since.

Thanks to Milton for pointing me this way, and Os for reminding me :)

Looking forwarding to debating with you all.

Well, look, a new victi -- uhh, I mean, new member. Cool! Welcome, G. Adams. Only one rule -- you can't sell the forum feline on Ebay, and you have to stay outta my litterbox.
LOL! Looking forward to debating!
Purrs,

Welcome. Now explain what an Objectivist is. ;)

It means that he objects, like Perry Mason, paints still-lifes, is immune to subjectivity
or he just disagrees with everything AE has to say.
One of those...

Disagrees with EVERYTHING I say? Wow, that takes work, considering how all over the board my opinions are...

Welcome. Now explain what an Objectivist is. ;)

An Objectivist is primarily someone who believes that we live within an objective reality that can be understood through rational study. There is a lot more too it, though. So I'll just quote Ayn Rand, who formulated this philosophy, to summarise

My philosophy, in essence, is the concept of man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity, and reason as his only absolute

g!

great to see you here sir.

Good to see another friendly face here :)

Funny, I think we all have our own reality and no one's reality is ever the exact duplicate of another's. But I am just odd like that.

Welcome to this forum, G. Adams.

You're one of the most reasonable members of my previous forum.

I hope this place suits you!

I have found it fairly compatible since drifting in about the beginning of June last year.

I have my sworn enemies here, just like everywhere I go.

But the staff has a deft touch in allowing debate without the flame component.

We recently had a departure of our founding Administrator and there are currently some ripples of discontent, but I think we will weather it.

There is a certain level of grassroots input here...it is certainly no autocracy.

I find your insights on the UK and European scene worthwhile G. Adams, and am very pleased you have come.

G!

Glad to see you decided to stop in, and hope you find reason to stay!

I would concur with Patrick on the good qualities of this forum thus far, and look forward to seeing your valued addition to the debates when you have time. ;)

<aol!> on Patrick's and Osborne's assessment of this forum. I'm not able to spend as much time here as I'd like, unfortunately.

Anyway, welcome aboard G - I always enjoying hearing from the European voices.
