Thanks much to all for the welcome. I sincerely hope to be annoying everyone with my opinions very soon.
And it's amazing how many familiar names I have seen in this forum.
By the way, since I am a Noooooooob here, I should say up front I almost NEVER use smileys. Not that I have anything against them, but I just don't use 'em. Therefore, I take great care in what I post to avoid giving anyone the wrong impression. But it happens sometimes. If such an occasion does arise, I apologize in advance. Seriously. I am a sarcastic SOB, but cuddly as all hell, so that should count for something.

Welcome, even if you are one of those annoying libertarians. (I kid... I joke...). Not as annoying as I am TO the Libertarians. I've been a member for about 20 years and I am one of their biggest critics (but I'm fair). You live near Kashi, China? Is THAT where those coordinates go? I Googled the references for Northern Delaware.[hr]

Thanks, my friend. But why did you put it facing the corner? What's THAT supposed to mean?
And if YOU'RE here, this must be a decent forum.
[hr]Apparently this software has some kind of time limit for successive posts. I'll need to keep that in mind.

Looks like many of the old crowd has found their way to this forum. I suppose the forums we came from still exist, but with everyone here, so there is no reason to go back. Too bad the owners of the other forum didn't value those who posted, but assumed they held all the power, and evidently didn't care who left their kingdom.

"Mass exodus"? Was it a specific instance then, or just a tipping point? (this might be better via PM)
I went on a few times in the last couple of weeks, but saw NOTHING that spurred me to post anything. Now that I'm here I see why. All the good ones have evidently ended up here.
Thanks again for the welcome all. Both my old friends and new.

B) I am mad at staff for banning a good friend . Fortunately that particular asshat is no longer here... but my friend is still gone.

Thanks, Matt. I'm thinking the same thing, only it's getting to the point I have to look at the URL in my browser to make sure I'm on the right forum, membership-wise, that is.

I swear the only people I invited were DANG, Kamehameha, namguy and Osborn.
Everybody else got their invitiation somewhere else.
And I only invited people from V that clearly indicated that they were dissatisfied.

I invited the majority of people I thought contributed valuable debate, at least, the ones I could reach, but I would rather not name names.
After all, the reason I left the other forum is because debate was suffering, and many of the posters I valued were leaving (both counts, due to what I would call management issues). Instead of letting time and dwindling membership split up the valuable posters, I thought I would invite as many as I could and see what happened. I saw no reason why the people who value good debate should suffer when we all have our own minds, our own values, and the freedom to go somewhere else..... I just suggested a location.
I value the input and perspective of a lot of these folks, so I can say without embarassment a lot of my motive was selfish. To those that know me, they understand selfish is not a bad thing, from my perspective.
I didn't invite everyone I wanted to, but I invited the majority of those who I thought were not only good debaters, but detailed posters who saw value in the debate for learning, not just arguing.
I would be lying if I said I hadn't formed a type of personal friendship with the bulk of these people, because I have, and that is the selfishness behind my invitations.
I was accused of being the "leader" of a mass exodus by the forum owner, but I have my own perspective on that and voiced it to him before leaving.
Regardless, I am glad to see so many friendly faces here, and hope you all find this site worthy of your time, as I have.

I didn't even know about it for quite a while.....
There were at least 4 or 5 people going before I was contacted, but I valued the input of those 4 or 5 enough to ask others, since I was leaving. ;)
However it was that you came here, I am glad to see all of you. Your perspectives, even though they are quite unlike my own, are welcome here.

A belated welcome, Scribbler. I've been neglecting to post here for a while due to a lot of uni work, but it's great to see good debators are still finding their way here.
Please let these not be people who hung out in the "Why can't we make pedophilia legal' threads...
Only one of the prolific pedo subject making threads came, but I wouldn't say he's of the 'let's make it legal' variety.
That kind of thing being permitted, but theories other than the official 9/11 story not, is one of the things that broke this kitten's back!:fight:
Quite a party y'all got going here. Sorry to show up so late but I hardly ever look in on this Introduction forum.
Since the bulk of good debaters left that site, its turned into an "emotion festival" in no way resembling debate.
Speak for yourself, Os. = P
I still post there considerably more than here and fail to see the superior nature of this board. There is easily as much brainless, irrational rant here as there.
Nor, on the Other Board, is one distracted by all the jumpy cybernetics, irritating smilies, and weird colour schemes jaysusjaysusjaysus!
Scribs, you are unerringly courteous and mild-mannered. I can't imagine where you got such a poor opinion of yourself.
Osborne,
I left a prior forum and was invited along with several others who were banned simply because of their views.
I differ politically with most of them, but I respect their intelligence and because I know they are good people. I wont name names, but they know who they ar
The ones who followed us here and registered simply because they wished to troll have long since left.
Homes, Gork, glad you stayed. You are, as Ata liked to say, good people.

I have a low opinion of myself because I keep ending up on these crummy forums that have people like me as members. I MUST be doing something wrong.
And if you ever call me mild mannered again I'm gonna swim over there and kick your ass.
But if you buy me a plane ticket I won't have to swim. Howzaboutit?

LOL - OK let's get something straight. Os may have arranged a little chat session to discuss jumping ship, but he's an honest sort and will admit he needed a little reinforcement.

Thank you for speaking candidly and honestly about this.
I really don't care what people think, especially the last forum owner, but, I would prefer that the facts see the light of day.

You KNOW I'm not up to that, my old friend. All talk, no action, that's me!
After looking at my last post I thought for a second I'd better edit it, as my aversion to smileys may cause the thread to move to FP. I knew Nono would get it, but for a moment I forgot I was a newbie here and not everyone gets my half-assed sense of humor.

You started out fine. He just didn't see you were making a joke. I'm surprised I don't get that reaction all the time myself, actually.
But maybe the Pacino bit afterward didn't help much, TBH. He was already offended before that.
(add) I noticed you weren't even IN that thread you linked, so I did a little looking around and saw it was spun off.
He has an offensive icon,
yet he cant take a little ribbing about it?

Do you accept Ameros?
Sorry, all payments in Bhutanese ngultrums only, please.
Dan, you don't owe me a thing. Glad to see you thriving!
Let me know if I can ever help you out.
Bhutanese ngultrums !?! What the....!?!
I am not thriving.... I dont think my health will be restored....but it could be a LOT worse. Its manageable now. Enough that I can get through 12 units at community college. Money is very tight...especially with gas at OVER $3.50 per gal.
My V8 Pick-up eats more resources than me. I just hang around the house when not in school. Costs too much to do ANYTHING.
I am only a few miles from Sutters creek.... with gold over $1000 its tempting to get the old pan out.
