Check your link- it closes my browser.

While it's true that blacks can, of course swim, most black men have trouble floating, probably due to high muscle mass, low body fat content.

Link works fine, it just opens in a new winbdow.

Though I get the feeling that I've found a racial stereotype I've never heard before.

Zo, my daughter was a professional lifeguard as were a lot of her friends. They were taught this. Racist, why?

I saw nothing wrong with his statement. I was in the Navy. To "pass" boot camp, you had to swim 150 yards, and tread water for 5 minutes (If I remember right). Quite a few black guys either got held back, or had to take remedial swimming because they couldn't pass the swim test. Maybe it's because they were from the city and never had the opportunity to go swimming, I don't know, but even when I got to the fleet, there were still a significant number of black guys who couldn't swim very well, and who had no problem admitting it.

I was thinking that it cant be because they are black.. surely there is no difference in ability.. as we are the same species....

If anyone has never heard this "cliche" then you should watch more black comedians on comedy central. It's common fodder for their humor. And, it's largely true that many blacks don't swim, or ski.

Blacks can't swim? WTF, it's a freakin' skill, not a talent. It's as dumb as saying Democrats can't tell the truth. They can, all you have to do is teach them how.

hehe...I think the racial overtone is evident simply because he starts off with "I am from Alabama and..." That basically tells me right there he has some good ole' boy notions about blacks that MUST be true. And yeah...swimming is a learned skill not a natural ability. While the statement that blacks statistically aren't taught to swim I don't believe you can say that because a person is black they are unable to swim.

Anyways..odd clip and good post.
