This is how people are treated in jails. Guilty, not guilty, it doesn't really matter. You're in "their house" and they will do as they please. And if you object to your treatment, that will only get you more of it. So keep your mouth shut and like it, or else.[hr]For those that can't view the video for whatever reason, the deputy just dumped the quadrapalegic guy out of the wheelchair onto the ground, apparently to make it easier to pat him down and search his pockets and such. The guy is just laying there on his face unable to help himself at all while two deputies check his pockets and inside his clothes, etc. It was in no way gentle and showed no respect for the guy whatsoever. Turns out, the guy was arrested for DUI but the blood tests show no intoxicants at all in his system, and the whole thing is on video on youtube. OOPS. You can see atleast 4 different deputies in the video, and none of them appear the least bit concerned with what was going on.

I find it very hypocritical that the same people who get indignant over Guantanemo fall mute when we see the evidence of human rights abuses in our domestic prisons.

This example above is an unfortunate occurance that pales in light of what goes on in the State and Federal prisons. Rape, murder, physical violence and intimidation all occur on a daily basis in our prison systems. I have listened to first hand accounts from retired, and still working, Correctional Officers who have witnessed the torture and physical abuse of inmates by Correctional Officers in penal institutions. I have interviewed inmates who have been witness to a host of abuses at the hands of other inmates.

This is a major scandal waiting to be uncovered in the US while we sit around and wring our hands over the flushing the Koran down the toilet at GITMO.

That said, this young fellow needs to sue the pants off these imbecilles in that Sheriff's Department. Everyone involved in this incident needs to be fired after they have had their hearings if they are found guilty.
