A Florida sheriff’s deputy in Tampa is on unpaid leave after dumping a quadriplegic man out of his wheelchair.

The incident happened on January 29th and it was caught on tape.

Brian Sterner, who broke his neck 14 years ago but can drive, was arrested and taken to jail on a traffic violation.

A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputy, who apparently didn’t believe Sterner was paralyzed, is seen grabbing his wheelchair from behind and dumping him onto the floor.

The deputy, Charlotte Jones, is the subject of an investigation but has not been terminated.

Three other deputies are on paid administrative leave.

Hillsborough County Chief Deputy Joe Docobo watched the video and said he found himself in “disgust” and was “appalled at every level.”

Sterner will be a guest on the “Today” show on Wednesday.

If any of the Gitmo detainees got half of the harsh treatment American citizens receive in US prisons and jails, Congress would be screaming abuse and torture...and they probably would have a legitiment case...for a change!

The report I saw is that they did too...but to a lesser extent.

I saw a report last night where a drunk (FUBAR) girl was brutally strip searched by two Fs and one M officer and left naked in a cold cell for 6 hrs, because in her state said something about "hurting herself".
This shiit happens all the time, and a lot worse to the incarcerated.
The abuse of low level non-violent drug offenders in prison by sadistic career criminals as well as guards is nothing short of barbaric.

Sexual abuse, particularly rape, caused by cops and guards seems to occur a lot. This is one of the worst cases I've seen though:

Grant County jail guards gathered around an 18-year-old man being booked on traffic violations and chatted about how the physically slight man would make a "good girlfriend" for inmates locked up in Cell 101.

Shift supervisor Clinton Shawn Sydnor told two guards that the new arrestee needed to be "scared" and "taught a lesson." So he ordered guards Wesley Lanham and Shawn Freeman to tell the inmates they were getting some "fresh meat."

As the man was being escorted to the cell in the 300-bed jail, inmates screamed, "He's such a cutie" and "Bring him to me."

As Sydnor pushed the 5-foot-10, 125-pound scared teen youth into the cell late on Feb. 13, 2003, yet another inmate yelled "Happy Valentine's Day." Before he was released, the teen man had been stripped naked, assaulted and raped....

The traffic violations against the teen were ultimately dropped by then-prosecutor Don Wells. The teen was arrested after trying to flee a state trooper, who clocked him traveling 35 mph over the limit on narrow, two-lane U.S. 27 in Pendleton County.

"The Grant County jail needs to hear my message," Wells said in a May 2003 interview. "Young people are not to be neglected and humiliated by thugs and hoodlums in the jail over there."

In civil litigation, the teen says he was carried overhead by a mob of inmates and led to the showers.

The violent attack, rape and sodomy carried on through the night.

I hope the guy sues her for every penny she has; and that she still loes her job and goes to jail. That was a despictable act for anyone to commit, much less a police officer.

Yeah, instead they're merely subjected to simulated drowning, forced to stand for hours at a time without a break, locked naked in unheated cement rooms for weeks on end, threatened with attack dogs, been cut off from pretty much all human contact for literally years on end, shackled and blindfolded when so much as traveling from room to room. And those are just the "acceptable interrogation techniques" that the Bush administration admits to.

Why, its positively a resort vacation. The only reason the inmates keep trying to commit suicide is because of how evil they are, right?

There's nothing wrong with that. Hell, I was subjected to that when I was in The Army. None of the things you listed is torture.
