Oooops, David Shuster, a regular MSNBC attack dog, might have bitten off more than he can chew this time. I wonder what His evil master Chris Matthews has to say about this? Shuster should have been canned long ago.

SEATTLE (AP) - A distasteful comment about Chelsea Clinton by an MSNBC anchor Thursday could imperil Hillary Rodham Clinton's participation in future presidential debates on the network, a Clinton spokesman said.
In a conference call with reporters, Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson Friday excoriated MSNBC's David Shuster for suggesting the Clinton campaign had "pimped out" 27-year old Chelsea by having her place phone calls to Democratic Party superdelegates on her mother's behalf. Wolfson called the comment "beneath contempt" and disgusting.

"I, at this point, can't envision a scenario where we would continue to engage in debates on that network," he added.

Clinton and Barack Obama are scheduled to participate in an MSNBC debate Feb. 26 from Ohio, which holds its primary March 4. The Clinton campaign has pushed hard for as many debates as possible with Obama, but Wolfson said the Feb. 26 debate could be jeopardized.

Wolfson pointed to what he called a pattern of tasteless comments by MSNBC anchors about the Clinton campaign. Weeks ago, "Hardball" host Chris Matthews apologized to the former first lady after suggesting her political career had been made possible her husband's philandering.

MSNBC has apologized on-air for Shuster's remark, but Wolfson said neither Chelsea nor Sen. Clinton had received a phone call offering a personal apology.

An MSNBC spokeswoman did not immediately return a phone call requesting comment.

Ha,
I saw Schuster's apology this morning but had no idea what it was actually about.
What a hoot!
Look like he swallowed a dead bird stuffed with a lemon. Now I know why.
Pimpin her out, eh?
He needs a "get right" intervention with Huggy Bear, if Bill Clinton isn't available!

The Clintons were wiser when they kept her life separate from their political campaigns.

Off topic, I know.. but I didn't bring it up.. you did...so.. all I gotta say is yea whatever..the imus train.. blah..( the train that shouldn't have ran in the first place ) and it wouldn't bother me if Shuster is fired. Point is he wont be riding the imus train.. maybe another train yes.. but not the imus train. In order to ride that train, The Rev Al Sharpton and his egotistical views of life itself will have to rear his ugly head. Sharpton wont get involved or cry racism like he did when Don Imus made his comments obviously because Chelsea isn't black. On that note I would like to point out.. Imus's statements were not racist, rather complimentary about how good the Lady Rutgers ball team was ..praise that was taken out of context because it was formed in the context of a joke..
[hr]
This is by no means an attempt to argue or even disagree with you Truth.. Im just trying to set the record straight concerning Don Imus and the train he was forced to ride..

Think they're making a mountain out of mole hill. Chelsea is a grown woman working for her mothers political campaign not some little kid that needs protection.

MSNBC an Chris Mathews still suck with or without this latest scandle.

'Pimped out' has the same unfortunate subtext as 'nappy-headed hos' and should meet with widespread disapproval by all who respect women.

'nappy-headed hos'

lol. Imus should have said he wanted to 'pimp out' those 'nappy-headed hos'. And then he should have worn a noose onto Al Sharpton's program. At that point he would have fully deserved all the hell he got.

But I never liked Imus anyway. He always sounded like he had a mouth full of marbles.

He very well could lose his job, or at least halt his recent ascension up the ranks at MSNBC in it's tracks.
A funny thing is that I remember him front and center condemning Imus and calling for his ouster. He who lives by the sword...

if your saying Don Imus disrespects women then you are mistaken.. again he had no intent to disrespect any women including the ball players on the rutgers team.. but only if you was a daily watcher of the program and followed Imus you would know he is a shock jock radio/comedy program.. and his whole point was commending the team by saying they was good/tough. he just did it in a joking way and because he did.. it gave all the insecure people in the world that didn't know him a chance to whine and cry and bytch...

You clearly have no clue because he got far beyond what any person should and would have normally got, punished wise. I'm sorry to say this but, ( in this particular case ), it was nothing more then target practice from all the haters in the world who thrive on nothingness that they can make into something horrible.

Because of Al Sharpton, who won't let racism die, followed by a bunch of corporate weaners, that whole situation was blown completely out of proportion. Because of Sharptons oppressive feelings that he purposely tries to spread throughout this country, alot of innocent, sick, children have lost alot of future aid due to the many endorsements lost now, and it's all because people can't get their minds out of the gutter or their heads out of their donkeys!

Fascist tactics continue.
They are threatening not to ever debate on MSNBC, thus decreasing viewership and revenue.
This is how the Clinton campaign has always dealt with issues, like jack-booted Stalinist thugs.[hr]And now Schuster's gone.
Until media outlets start standing up to these heavy handed tactics by the Clintons, they will continue to run roughshod over them.
News outlets do a disservice to their viewers and their own credibility when they cave to these bullies.
How long will it be till they submit all questions to be asked by the debate moderators and demand favorable treatment...or they walk?
I bet it's already happening.
George Orwell is smiling in heaven right now.
NBC NEWS STATEMENT REGARDING CHELSEA CLINTON COMMENT:

On Thursday's "Tucker" on MSNBC, David Shuster, who was serving as guest-host of the program, made a comment about Chelsea Clinton and the Clinton campaign that was irresponsible and inappropriate. Shuster, who apologized this morning on MSNBC and will again this evening, has been suspended from appearing on all NBC News broadcasts, other than to make his apology. He has also extended an apology to the Clinton family. NBC News takes these matters seriously, and offers our sincere regrets to the Clintons for the remarks.

Both the Clinton and Obama campaigns accepted invitations from us on Thursday evening to participate in a February 26th debate. Our conversations with the Clinton campaign about their participation continue today, and we are hopeful that the event will take place as planned.http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/politics/shuster_suspended_for_pimped_out_comment_77059.asp

No, El.
This is freedom of not only speech but freedom of the press. The Clintons are seeking to limit one of our most cherished rights and key-stones to our Democracy...freedom of the press through heavy handed intimidation.

That doesn't change the fact that it is a hilariously silly comment. Romney trying to claim that his sons working his campaign is serviing their country is no less silly than if anyone else said it.

Are you trying to claim that the comment should be taken seriously? BTW, Romney claiming the name Republican doesn't make him MY candidate either.

Dear Mr. Capus,

Thank you for your call yesterday. I wanted to send you this note to convey the depth of my feeling about David Shuster's comments.

I know that I am a public figure and that my daughter is playing a public role in my campaign. I am accustomed to criticism, certainly from MSNBC. I know that it goes with the territory.

However, I became Chelsea's mother long before I ran for any office and I will always be a mom first and a public official second.

Nothing justifies the kind of debasing language that David Shuster used and no temporary suspension or half-hearted apology is sufficient.

I would urge you to look at the pattern of behavior on your network that seems to repeatedly lead to this sort of degrading language.

There's a lot at stake for our country in this election. Surely, you can do your jobs as journalists and commentators and still keep the discourse civil and appropriate.

Sincerely,

Hillary Rodham Clintonhttp://www.politico.com/news/stories/0208/8412.html
It doesn't take too much "reading between the lines" to figure this letter as a threat to deny access.
A very powerful card to play when this political season is generating the kind of interest and demand by the public it is.
Basically Hillary is threatening MSNBC's bottom line if they don't kowtow to her whims.

This is blackmail.
We run the risk of prostituting our system and the free press out to the Clinton Machine and their infamous oppositional research operations.
Talk about stacking the deck against the black man....hooo boy.

Former President Bill Clinton may love to eat foods like osso bucco, but he's not so happy with the restaurant Osso Buco. Clinton's lawyer sent owner Nino Selimaj a letter demanding that a photograph of Selimaj and Chelsea Clinton, which had been featured in the University Place location's window, be taken down.

The AP reported that lawyer Douglas J. Band (apparently using letterhead from "the office of William Jefferson Clinton") noted the young Clinton's status as a private citizen, the fact she "was not consulted prior to this picture being displayed," and that the photograph does not serve as an endorsement." Band also wrote, "We reserve the right to exercise any and all options available to us if you refuse to comply."

Selimaj took down the photo and told Page Six, "I am really heartbroken. Until this morning, I would have voted for Hillary. Bill was my favorite president of all time... I really hope they will reconsider." Hmm, since Barack Obama is in NYC tomorrow, maybe he'll consider having an event at Osso Buco. I had forgotten.
Same stuff but higher stakes now that the Clintons are threatening the press' constitutional 1st amendment rights.
They have a very dangerous attitude toward their entitlement and untouchable status.
They seem to have never read the Declaration of Independence.

AnnEsthesia
02-10-2008, 02:53 PM
So? They did not want their child's image to be used to boost a restaurant's image. If you take a picture and want to use it in a window or on the wall of a public space, it is common courtesy to ask permission. We have to do that at work if we want to publish in print or online any pictures of people. We have them say, in writing, that we have permission to use their likeness.

But I guess that would ruin your "The Clinton's are evil" argument, eh?
