It's just a jobs bill

Yes, it's only a jobs bill and it's sitting there on capitol hill.
The House and Senate have been passing various pieces of legislation marketed as "jobs bills" lately, yet nothing has become of it. It seems that we were finally turning the corner in terms of job creation until the last couple of jobs reports when the numbers did not meet analysts' expectations.
In terms of the Presidential race, Obama can make the claim that things are much better than they were in January 2009 when he took office. Romney will be making the ideological arguments usually made by his party and will try to convince voters that jobs would have rebounded completely by now if not for those meddling liberals.
So who has the edge on this most important issue?
In my opinion, that will depend on what happens over the next few months. If the jobs numbers don't get any worse, Obama has a slight edge. Of course, if they go south, Republicans will win this issue big and likely the White House along with it. And although I'm stating the obvious, a huge jump in jobs will basically guarantee another term for Obama.
This chart is jobs gained/lost since 2001.

By the way, all apologies for the terrible artwork.
Schoolhouse rock basically got me through elementary school. In fact I still recite the preamble to the Constitution if anyone should doubt..

If only Democrats knew what jobs really were, and what jobs grew the economy and which ones take from it.

^ would you like to elaborate?
Doesn't a lot of what Obama is proposing/proposed involve construction and infrastructure related jobs? Those jobs add nothing?

Just wait until the GOPParty refuses to pass the highway bill,
putting another 1.9 million out of work and raising unemployment to above 9%.
I know they're not doing any of this for political gain or advantage,
but what do you think that will do to Obama's re-election chances?

Borrowing, especially at this time (if you have been paying attention) is a bad deal. We already have more debt than we can pay for and our deficits are growing much faster than the economy.
In short, a real job is paid for by real demand in the private sector, not the dictates of government. When the taxpayers aren't paying for a job, it's a good one.

I think the numbers are grossly overstated, btw.

Does this highway bill utilize tax dollars that are coming in as they are spent, or does it require extensive borrowing? If it's merely more borrowing, then it's best to let it die.

whenever we have a Democrat in the White House.
